My Yellow Rose

Tuesday 5 June 2012

It's the last day of the holiday (yes it's still a non-working day because of the Queen's jubilee). But unfortunately it was not a good day for us. Our gas meter was faulty and because of this our boiler switched off. And even after the engineer fixed the gas meter, he was unable to switch on our ancient boiler. So it means we are out of hot water and house heating until we are able to get someone to switch it on for us.

Since it's a holiday, there's absolutely no one that could come to fix it for us. We're lucky that it's not one of the colder months, otherwise we'd be in trouble. We simply have to layer up when we sleep and boil water in big pans when we go to the shower. We're just hoping that we get someone to fix it for us soon.

And to make it worse, in the evening the cupboard under the sink collapsed! It was due to a leaking pipe that was hidden behind a plywood so were not aware of the leak. The water weaken the laminate wood and made it too heavy that the bottom layer collapsed! Stress to the max!

When I saw Papa E he was in the brink of tears coz we are faced with two problems in one day! But I think we were able to calm and reassure each other that we can sort this out. We are hoping that it's not too big of a job and it's something that we could sort out ourselves. Fingers crossed!

I took this photo in the afternoon and I posted it here coz I want to cheer myself up. I know that yellow is for friendship (thanks Sey of 14th Street for the info) but the colour cheers me up a bit and clears my head and stop me from worrying and panicking too much....

Wonderful Surprise

Wednesday 9 May 2012

Today has been a long day! Papa E went to a course out of town which left me and Poj chauffeur-less. We had to get to Poj's nursery via taxi because it was raining (again, I know!).  We got there fine and hassle free but the trouble started when we were on route to my destination. I didn't realize that there's an ongoing road works on the busiest road in our area. The drive that usually takes 20minutes took 35 minutes and the worse part is that I missed the staff bus by a minute! I had no choice but to stay where I was and wait for the staff bus to come back. I arrived 45 minutes late this morning.

And since I was late in, I pretty much had to play catch up the whole day. Plus my manager decided she wanted to meet up with me about my project, which I appreciate but again took me away from my ward. Then on the way home the horrendous traffic was there to greet me. I left work early but it still took me almost an hour to get to Poj!

I've lost the will at this point and all I wanted to do was go home and chill. But when I opened the door I found a Royal Mail claim card informing me that I have a perishable parcel that I need to collect from the depot. Luckily, Poj was in the mood for a walk so we wrapped up and went to collect my parcel.

The man handed me a box which said Guernsey Flowers, I was so excited, I couldn't wait to get home! As soon as we did, I read the card and found that it was from my best friend, Oliver. The box contained a bouquet of beautiful flowers. It was all I need to make me feel better, it definitely made my day.

To bff Oliver, thanks for remembering my birthday and for the wonderful surprise. They're gorgeous & truly made me feel special =)

Love you too ♥

Flowers and Card

Friday 27 April 2012

Thank God it's Friday! This week has not been particularly good. But we are lifting our troubles to God coz we know He would not abandon us...

And today when I came in to work, my manager surprised me with a birthday card signed by everyone on  our team. And my partner at work, Danielle gave me this gorgeous bouquet of flowers. She said she bought it for my birthday and to cheer me up, which it did!

I am also delighted that everyone loved the cake that I made for them. I made the same cake that I did for Poj's friend. I only had Thursday evening to do it so I decided to go for one that is simple to make and is tried and tested. I even got a text when I got home from my colleague who said that it was amazing. =)

Now I am looking forward to the weekend to celebrate my birthday with my boys! Thank goodness for the flowers, card and the weekend =)

Late Christmas Gift

Monday 27 February 2012

I blogged about our friend's birthday party yesterday. And it's amazing that we came bearing one gift for the celebrant and went home carrying gifts from our other friends. And one of those gifts is this beauty. (took the pic while it's still in it's wrapper, excited much =)

Our friend Mercy said this was her late Christmas gift to us coz she was unable to make it to our Christmas party. She is so sweet, don't you think?

I love orchids coz it reminds me of home and my parents. We sell orchids for our business. So you can imagine our house being surrounded by Phalaenopsis similar to this. Although I have to say I am not gifted with a green thumb like my parents so a whole lot of effort is needed to ensure my orchid is kept healthy and alive - wish me luck!

Thanks Mercy for our beautiful gift =)
